A terrific full sized vehicle available is the Toyota Avalon. It was first introduced in 1994 and it is one of the best sedans out there still. It is a rear wheel drive vehicle and it features a 6 cylinder engine. It was created to take the place of the Toyota Cressida. It offered consumers a middle ground between the Toyota Camry and the luxurious Lexus ES.
The first generation was produced through 1999. The bench seat design in the front and in the back offered seating for up to six passengers. Both traction control and ABS were standard features. Yet on many of the competitor’s vehicles at that time, they were optional upgrades that cost extra.
The second generation was produced through 2004. One of the biggest changes here is that the dimensions increased. The vehicle got both wider and longer, offering more comfort and more cargo space. In 2003, there were upgrades to the grill, the headlights, and the taillights.
A complete design change occurred for the third generation, making it once again larger. More power and better fuel economy were also part of the over haul. A hybrid version was introduced in 2013. The 2014 model is estimated to be one of the best selling sedans of the year.
The Toyota Avalon has done very well in all categories of safety testing. This is also a big part of the high sales volume. This is often a family sedan, and there is great comfort in making sure that vehicle everyone rides in is as safe as it can be.
