The Dodge Charger is one of the legendary muscle cars. It was introduced in 1964 and has quite a history! The vehicle has changed over time, but the power, the handling, and the thrill of driving one never has. The movie franchise Fast and Furious fueled the interest in the older models. Many of them are worth far more than a brand new one due to the historical value.
The first generation offered a two door model. It is often seen in older movies. The vehicle was very powerful and competed with both the Ford Mustang and the Chevrolet Camaro. The four door sedans have only been on the market since 2006. They are perfect for a family vehicle for those that also want the power and prestige of a muscle car.
The second generation was introduced in 1968. The cosmetic improvements to the design included a changed grill and back end. The result was very high sales that were above those of the competitors in the same class.
To keep up with the changes of the competitors and the demands of consumers, the third generation Dodge Charger came out in 1971. It offered six different packages for the trim. It also featured changes to the grill and spoiler to enhance the appearance. The charger disappeared in 1987.
It was revamped and reintroduced in 2006 along with the competition of the Chevrolet Camaro. It has done very well as a reliable vehicle and it is priced less than the Camaro and the Mustang which is also getting consumer attention.
