One of the compact sedans offered by Nissan is the Sunny. It was created in Japan starting in 1966 and production continued until 2004. The original name for it was the Datsun 1000. In the USA, it was mainly known as the Nissan Sentra.
The first models of the Nissan Sunny were offered as a two door or as a station wagon. There was an original version and an upgrade that was referred to as the deluxe version. The 4 cylinder engine and the wide grill were features that seemed to make consumers happy both with the body style and the driving functionality of the vehicle.
In 1970, there was the Nissan Sunny truck version. It has a body style similar to a small van, but with a low bed. The bed had high rails on it which make this vehicle a good option for regularly hauling materials.
In 1971, the Nissan Sunny four door coupe was introduced. This was due to the demand that many consumers had for it. The vehicle had been selling very well, but many families complained it was far too difficult to get children in and out of the back seat with the hatchback model. The sedans quickly become top selling vehicles due to the design and the low price compared to other similar sedans.
In some areas, you will still find the Nissan Sunny models out there on the road. They are well made and they seem to last forever, even with high mileage on them.
