The Jeep Grand Cherokee is a midsized SUV that is a very powerful crossover vehicle. It does well both for daily driving and on difficult terrain. It was introduced in 1993 and continues to do very well with consumers today. The new models sell quickly and many of the older models continue to be driven. They hold their resell value very well.
This is actually the first Jeep product that was created. It did so well that they have introduced many other models including the Jeep Wrangler which is a smaller sized SUV. The first generation was created through 1998. It was a durable vehicle but the design was very simple. Since consumers were looking for a crossover, they wanted a nicer body style too. This is what led to the upgrades for the second generation.
The second generation was created through 2004, and the sales soared with this nicer appearance. Consumers already loved the versatility and the durability of the Jeep Grand Cherokee. Finding it to be visually appealing really made a difference when they went to a dealership to select a midsized SUV.
The Jeep Grand Cherokee WK was introduced in 2005 with some great features including the new four wheel drive concept known as Quadra Drive II. It also offered the V6 engine or the chance to upgrade to the powerful V8 Hemi.
In 2011, The SRT-8 model was introduced. It is promoted as the most powerful Jeep ever produced. It features an upgraded 6.4 L V8 Hemi engine. It also has a larger fuel tank so it can travel approximately 500 miles before fuel must be added.
