The reasonable price, great look, and the overall handling were all great selling points. The vehicle has been through numerous upgrades over the years to keep it on top of its competitors.
The first generation was a very basic appearing car, and changed considerably after 1987. While consumers liked the driving, the power, and the comfort, they weren’t sold on the body style. They often overlooked the Hyundai Sonata due to the visual appearance.
With the second generation, the appearance was definitely getting attention. The square design gave way to a very soft and gentle look that was both casual and classy. This version of the vehicle was produced until 1993.
The fourth generation was made through 2005. In addition to some cosmetic upgrades, this is when the option for different engine choices was given. Before, consumers could only get it as a V6. Now they could also get a turbocharged upgrade for more power.
In 2008, a hybrid model was introduced which did well. While it was priced higher than the regular version, it was a great choice for those that wished to be more eco-friendly. It is one of the top hybrids available.
Excellent fuel mileage and safety are key selling points that continue to make the Hyundai Sonata one of the great selling vehicles out there today. It has done in countries all over the world.
