One of the large family sedans out there is the Ford Mondeo. It has been in production since 1992. The vehicle has several names out there around the world. In some countries, it is known as the Ford Contour. Beginning in 2013, it was called the Ford Fusion.
The early vehicle concept was a very large vehicle, a family wagon with plenty of cargo space. However, instead of the typical box like design, it was very round and contoured, giving it a softness that the competitors were lacking. It was also offered in appealing colors instead of the ugly options for most wagons at that time.
The second generation of the Ford Mondeo was introduced in 1996 and continued through 2001. The vehicle had a simple design but more rounding was done around the front of the vehicle. The design also offered more cargo room. There was still a wagon offered, but the sales in that model category were steadily declining.
The third generation was offered through 2007, and it was much larger than the previous choices for the Ford Mondeo. The reason for this was to give consumers the extra room they had been asking for. The additional leg and head room really made a difference in overall sales.
The fourth generation is out there today, and it is very stylish. It is also very comfortable and has plenty of advanced safety features. The Ford Mondeo can be purchased with a V6, V8, or a V8 turbo depending on the preference of the customer.
