BMW 5 Series

Classified as an executive car, there is nothing lacking with the BMW 5 Series. It has been around since 1972 and it is currently in the sixth generation. It offers both a sedan and a touring body style. It is the #2 top selling vehicles for the BMW company.

All of the vehicles in the BMW 5 Series collection offer a V8 engine with plenty of power behind it. The first generation was very similar to the body style of the Volvo, and the two were often confused with each other. In 1981 the second generation was introduced, and it was produced through 1988. Changes to the headlights and a few other things were done to differentiate the vehicle.

The third generation BMW 5 Series got a streamlined body that was well defined and quite an upgrade. It quickly became known as one of the most reliable luxury sedans, encouraging more consumers to purchase it. This generation span was from 1988 until 1996.

1995 through 2004 was the time period of the fourth generation BMW 5 Series. It is still on the list of top 10 vehicles ever! Quite an impressive award when you consumer all of the competitors in this luxury vehicle category.

There were only minor changes for the 5th generation from 2003 until 2010. The majority of the changes though were for the safety features of the vehicle. The sixth generation offers a sporty and classy look. This is from 2011 to present. The 2011 was also the first year that a hybrid BMW 5 Series was introduced.
