One of the SUVs available today is the Mitsubishi Pajero. The name of this vehicle has actually stirred up some controversy. While it was designed with the meaning of “mountain hunter”, it seems that the name is actually offensive in the Spanish language.
The vehicle was unveiled in 1973 in Tokyo, Japan. It did very well and it was left unchanged until the 1978 model.
Then the Pajero II was released with various upgrades to the interior. There were a few changes to the exterior, but not much. The engine was changed to offer more power and better overall handling. The goal with the changes was to make it more recreational for consumers that wanted to drive it daily.
The Mitsubishi Pajero is the most successful vehicle that has ever raced in the Daker Rally. Out of 32 annual races, it has won 15 times. It has always placed in the top 10. This has helped the off road reputation grow and it has also increased overall sales. Each time that the Daker Rally takes place, there are people out there looking for models of all years.
The Mitsubishi Pajero is no longer sold in the USA. It was discontinued in that country in 2006 due to the stiff competition of other SUVs. However, it continues to be sold in many other countries including the UK and Japan where sales are very good. This vehicle gets great reviews for style, for comfort, and for the safety features it offers.
